So, Jack is now 1. Wow. I swear, time flies when your having fun. Or, when days drag on and on and on and you think the day may never end and then you look and it's been so long you think, "How did we get here?" A friend told me that she was told, "The days are long, but the years are short." No truer words were ever spoken. Happy Birthday little boy!

I know we will have fun once we are there, but the trip may be the hardest part. Jack isn't quite the traveler that Lauren always has been. I am taking snacks, bribes, movies, toys etc., but he will just want out of his seat and down on the ground to move around. Not likely. Poor kid. I hope I have it built up to be way worse than it actually will be, but I bet my fears are spot on. Wish us luck! I'll try to post again before Christmas, but if I don't, Merry Christmas to you and yours!

Happy Turkey Day! (almost!)

Today was Lauren's Thanksgiving program at preschool. She was a turkey who sang and danced. Actually, her entire class played turkeys. It was very cute. When the turkeys had to gobble, gobble, gobble, she would work the beak and make it gobble. Then we ate pumpkin muffins the kids had made the day before. Granddaddy and Aunt Rebecca and Jenna came, as well as Momma, Daddy and Jack. It was a great program!

She make Jack look huge and makes the sweetest little baby noises. Lauren loves to hold her and says over and over, "She's just so sweet!" I forget how small babies really are. Heck, neither of mine were ever this small on the outside of me, so that explains that. She is perfection. Congrats to her momma and daddy for a job well done!!!

Update:

Pre K is all we hoped it would be and more. She loves school and cannot wait to go everyday. Good sign of things to come!

We have all had the nastiest stomach flu over the last few days and it sucked. Jack is the only one still dealing with it. Hoping it is on it's way out since it is nutclub time again. Off to try fried Coke...I'll let you know what in the heck that is when I find out.

Tomorrow starts PreK

She has been 1 day so far and LOVED it! She has 17 kids in her class, 2 sets of twins and she is the funniest one, according to the other moms. Nice... I have the funny kid. I'll let you know more tomorrow.

Sorry for the lull...

So, next week we have our PreK teacher meeting. How is she old enough for preschool you may ask? Let me tell you: I have no idea. The fact that she starts Kindergarten in under a year blows me away and I all but refuse to believe it. She is very excited for school to start. This year, she will be going 3 days per week. Sigh...How will I ever manage her being gone 5 days a week? I know I will find things to do, but imagining life without her for 6+ hrs. a day seems impossible.

Jack is full on, no holds barred, crawling/pulling up/beginning to cruise and my life is about to increase in speed by, oh, I don't know, 500 TIMES!!! He knows no fear, is not even a bit timid and is very friendly to every person whether they are friendly back or not.

Man, I LOVE THESE KIDS!!!

Tooth count: Jack, 6 in Lauren, 2 out

So, Jack is now crawling, not only army style, but occasionally on his hands and knees as well. He also pulls up, but is not cruising yet (which is fine by me!) but I know that is coming.
I booked our vacation for December. If you know what it is, great. If not, I'm not telling. Yet. Let's just say, Lauren will LOVE it with a very capital LOVE!!!

So, the teeth...

Lauren lost another one, Jack got another one. John and I still have all of ours in case you were wondering. She is looking so grown up. Makes me a little sad.
Jack is trying so hard to crawl. You just pull for him to do it, but that too, will make me a little sad ;).
We had a great vacation. The mountains were still pretty, but we did see bears this time, so I have now done all I intend to do there, so if we don't go back, that's ok. If we do, that's ok too, but I don't need to.

The tooth is out!!!

Last night the tooth fairy came and left a golden coin!! She was very excited. Not that it didn't come with some drama...John pulled it, with Lauren's consent, and after skipping through the house saying, "I am a big girl! I am a big girl!" She rinsed her mouth, then started crying about not wanting to lose a tooth or to be big or to grow up. It was quite sad, actually. She did manage to make a turn around and was then excited about the tooth fairy, after some coaxing with chocolate milk.

The saga of the tooth

She still has a the loose tooth, but barely. She can almost lay it flat forward. It won't be long now. I hear the flutter of tooth fairy wings...sigh...
On the flip side, Jack is trying to get his top left front tooth. She loses them, he gets them. Such is the cycle of life...

Well...

Jack is laughing A LOT, rolling all over the floor, just started rolling a beach ball (well, not so much rolling as letting go and happening to kick it with his feet that seldom stop moving) and he is becoming more fun for Lauren to play with. It makes me smile to see how much fun they are having together.
Lauren has her first loose tooth. It was the first tooth she cut and it is actually loose, not loose in her mind, but really loose!! Very exciting and sad at the same time. My baby is growing up before my eyes! Wah!

The interacting of children

Jack is a great audience. He loves to be entertained by anyone willing to do it, especially Lauren and she is happy to oblige. He likes to be in his swing while John is getting ready for work and doing his hair. Jack watches with so much interest that his mouth sometimes hangs open. It is too cute!! Lauren loves to sing to Jack, play with things that make him laugh, lay on his boppy with him and in general pester (in a good way) him. I am enjoying them so much!

Update:

Jack is sitting up and saying, "ga- ga- ga- " with the emphasis on the "-g" sound. He tells everyone his story. He is also getting very strong. He loves to jump in his jumper and will stay in it up to a half an hour at a time. He likes to sit up, roll over and is a great sleeper. However, there is no mistaking when he has had enough of something, like right now so I need to go.

The baptism of Jack

He was wonderful before church, smiling, happy, talking. Fast forward to 5 minutes before the actual baptism...crying that led to screaming and crying. Oh well. He's a baby and every mother in the congregation understood (so did the dad's I'm sure). After a quick snooze in my lap, he woke up in a great mood and the minister was able to carry him around and introduce him to the congregation and he smiled at all the right people and was quiet and it was perfect.

Hello Kitty...

We had three successful birthday parties for Lauren followed by Easter so let's assume we have plenty of candy and new stuff to last us a while...It was great fun though. Funny story: I told Lauren on Thursday that Saturday would be her family birthday party and she said, "So then will I be 5?" I love her so much. She is a very funny kid.

***************
Jack has his very first ear infection and is on the second type of antibiotics in a week. Side note: If you ever have to give Omnicef, know that it can change the color of bowel movements to burgundy. Just so you know, since I didn't and we went rushing to the doctors office minutes after dropping Lauren off at school only to find out that I panicked for no reason. Something about magnesium content. Sigh...

Time

Let me tell you about my life, 4 years ago today. Mother and Rebecca came down to go with me to the dr. We decided to induce the next day and I PANICKED! How was I going to give birth? I knew it would KILL me. We ate at Kipplee's, came home and John and I went to bed, but didn't sleep. I was so nervous/excited/worried/scared/excited that I didn't know what to do...
Fast forward to today: Lauren asks me, "Momma, can I sleep in your lap?" I wanted to tell her she could sleep there forever if she wants to...

We had been home all day and I had been playing with our new camera and thought that this would be a great opportunity to take some spring pictures. This was one of 105 photos taken that day. From 10 in the morning until 4 in the afternoon. Sounds like I have a picture taking addiction...and I do. Wouldn't you with such beautiful children to photograph?
Enjoy and Happy Easter!! (I know I am a week early)

One more week

Until Lauren is 4 YEARS OLD!!! Where has the time gone? And, I see it going again with Jack. It's unfair. Completely and utterly unfair. Daily, she is becoming more kid and less preschooler. She talks like she is older, looks and dresses like she is older, uses more of her imagination to come up with even more elaborate stories, asks more in depth questions and more and more does things to entertain Jack. She loves to make him smile and chuckle. She is a little momma. I just love her so much. How to make time slow down...?

This is my last post...

As a 32 yr. old. Lauren said that tomorrow we should go to Chuck E. Cheese since it is my birthday, but I told her we would probably go somewhere else...

OK, so...

We are better. Best of all? Lauren never got even a touch of that nastiness. How is that possible? I don't know, but I am SO thankful!

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Lauren loves school, and really loved her field trip yesterday to the train museum downtown. Jack and I went, too. He slept, I visited with a friend and then we enjoyed the rest of the AWESOME WEATHER!!! 78 DEGREES IN MARCH!!!

Getting our butts kicked!!!

So, the stomach flu. It's getting us. Long. Hard. HORRIBLY!!! John had it Sunday and was fine by that night. Monday night, Jack started vomitting. I woke up with it Tuesday and Jack continued. By Wednesday, I felt fine and Jack continued so we went to the dr. He said, "Start blah-blah-blah formula and he'll start improving". I cannot find that formula but got another one. He slowed down a bit, then it came back. Last night before bed, VOMIT ALL OVER ME, JACK, HIS HANDS, CLOTHES, MY HAIR, THE BATHROOM SINK, ETC., ETC., ETC. Wow...that's all I can say. Wow...

THE SNOW!!!!!!!

Luckily, the roads were clear so travel was easy. And may I say, WAY TO GO OHIO! Some of the clearest roads I have ever seen in that kind of snow. Good job!
Now, on to spring!!!

The snow that wasn't...

Poor Lauren. All she has wanted since Dec. 21, is snow. I had a terrible time convincing her it was Christmas without snow. Now, she is seeing snow on TV and wants to know why we have barely a dusting. John also wants LOTS of snow. Both of them are very upset about this winter. Sad...

Slacker

I know I haven't posted in a while, so here's the low down: Lauren is growing like a weed, Jack is doing the same and smiling a lot, the Colts are off to the Super Bowl (Jack likes football already!), school conferences are coming up this week for Lauren and I am sure they will say she's the smartest in her class ;). It is very cold and Lauren is hoping beyond hope, that it will snow soon. Enough snow for a snowman please.

Update:

Lauren loves Jack SO much! Christmas was fantastic, everyone got everything. Lauren loves Jack SO much, in case I failed to mention it. The tree is down, put away and the baby stuff is beginning to overtake the house. How's Lauren? She is in love with Jack. New Year's Eve was a long day in the car to help family and home again, late at night but then up every 2 hours to feed Jack.
Today, family day at our house.
Tomorrow is mother's birthhday. Happy 57th!!!
Wednesday, life returns to normal with John going back to work.
Love this time of year!!
Hate when it ends...
